What is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive, targeted slimming technique to reduce localized fat deposits .
Cryolipolysis is derived from cryotherapy.
It uses cold (negative temperatures, down to -10° Celsius) to permanently destroy fat cells in the targeted area.
Cold causes the progressive destruction of adipocytes by apoptosis; the adipocytes will self-destruct naturally without damaging adjacent tissues (skin, blood vessels, etc.).
The fat will then be eliminated naturally and permanently over the weeks following the session.
Principle
The principle of Cryolipolysis is to subject fat cells (adipocytes) to a negative temperature to induce the phenomenon of apoptosis (triggering a natural process of cell self-destruction).
Vulnerable to cold and the resulting thermal shock, the adipocytes will then naturally destroy themselves without damaging the adjacent tissues (skin, blood vessels, etc.)
Studies show that fat cells are destroyed at temperatures above +3°C.
Using a negative temperature (down to -10° Celsius) allows effective temperature to reach the deep layers of the epidermis.
After their self-destruction, the cells will be eliminated by the lymphatic system.
Once destroyed, adipocytes do not regenerate except in cases of significant weight gain.
Cells adjacent to the targeted area are not affected by cryolipolysis.
Effects
Cryolipolysis permanently destroys unwanted fat deposits and allows for effective resculpting of treated body areas .
The fat cells will not return to the area where cryolipolysis was performed.
The results of cryolipolysis are not immediate. On average, it takes 2 to 3 months for the complete process of fat cell destruction triggered during the session to occur and for the results of fat reduction to be visible.
Cryolipolysis allows for the destruction of 30 to 50% of the targeted adipocytes.
Depending on the case, one or more sessions will be necessary for the treatment.Cells adjacent to the treated area are not impacted.
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive and painless cosmetic treatment method. It does not cause any skin damage or significant side effects.
It therefore constitutes an effective, non-invasive and risk-free alternative to liposuction .
Session proceedings.
During the pre-treatment consultation, your Beauty and Curves Paris expert will target the area to be treated and validate the suitability of the Cryolipolysis treatment to your situation and objectives.
After targeting the area to be treated, your Beauty and Curves expert applies a gel-impregnated fabric to protect the skin and allow for good thermal conduction.
We begin by placing a gel-impregnated fabric on the area to be treated to protect the skin and allow good thermal conduction.
Then cryolipolysis applicators are applied, which will combine the effects of suction and cold.
The cryolipolysis machine is equipped with applicators of different sizes which are adapted according to the area to be treated (for example, the applicators are larger for larger areas such as the abdomen or smaller for the upper arm).
For a few minutes, the patient may experience slight discomfort due to the suction and tingling, but the area quickly becomes anesthetized by the effect of the cold.
The device's temperature gradually decreases to -10 degrees Celsius, resulting in the total destruction of targeted fat cells and effective action down to the deep layers of the epidermis.
At the end of the session, your Beauty and Curves expert removes the cryolipolysis applicators and the gel-soaked cloth, and massages the treated area (for 5 minutes) to restore and activate blood circulation. This helps increase the exchange and elimination of fat deposits.
The treatment lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour depending on the area or areas to be treated, during which you can relax, read or listen to music.
The care of Cryolipolysis remains tolerable and almost painless.
Some fairly rare and transient side effects may appear following the treatment: redness, numbness of the area, altered skin sensitivity which may last a few days, bruising and sensitivity, tingling, itching, possible swelling of the area.
The treated area will be painful for a few days.
Exceptional: inflammation of the treated area.
These temporary side effects will disappear quickly within a few days.
The treated areas :
- The belly and the rolls of fat around the abdominal belt
- Saddlebags
- The folds under the buttocks
- Love handles
- The hips
- Advice: For areas such as the inner thighs, inner knees and arms, ask the B&C practitioner for advice.
It is advisable to have a personalized Slimming and Anti-Aging assessment before the first session.
Contraindications
Cryolipolysis is not suitable in the following cases:
- Pregnancy
- history of Raynaud's disease (abnormal narrowing of small arteries in response to cold)
- Poorly controlled diabetes with secondary complications
- Malfunction of certain organs (severe liver disease, heart and kidney failure, etc.)
- poorly balanced anticoagulation
- inflammatory disorders of the post-phlebitis type,
- skin disorders such as eczema or umbilical hernias.
- People whose fat mass is too low (the suction cup must be able to suction the entire roll of fat).
Some guidelines to follow:
-Stay well hydrated: 8 to 10 glasses per day
-Avoid intense sports for 48 hours
-Maintain a healthy lifestyle, particularly in terms of nutrition
-Avoid hammam and sauna sessions 5 days before and after the treatment
-Do not treat areas with recent stretch marks or scars
-Do not treat recent cesarean scars (less than 1 year old)
-No aesthetic treatment by laser or pulsed light in the area 15 days before and after the treatment.
-Alcohol consumption is not recommended 24 hours before and after a cryolipolysis session.
