What is Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis is a technique for non-invasive targeted slimming to reduce localized fat deposits.

Cryolipolysis is derived from cryotherapy.

It uses cold (negative temperatures, down to -10° Celsius) to permanently destroy fat cells in the targeted area.

Cold causes the progressive destruction of adipocytes through apoptosis; the adipocytes will naturally destroy themselves without damaging the surrounding tissues (skin, blood vessels, etc.).

The fat will then be naturally and permanently eliminated over the weeks following the session.

Principle

The principle of Cryolipolysis is to subject fat cells (adipocytes) to a negative temperature to induce apoptosis (the triggering of a natural cell self-destruction process).

Vulnerable to cold and the created thermal shock, the adipocytes will then naturally destroy themselves without damaging the surrounding tissues (skin, blood vessels, etc.)

Studies show that fat cells are destroyed starting at +3°C.

The use of a negative temperature (up to -10° Celsius) makes it possible to deliver an effective temperature down to the deep layers of the epidermis.

After their self-destruction, the cells will be eliminated by the lymphatic system.

Once destroyed, adipocytes do not regenerate except in the event of significant weight gain.

The cells neighboring the targeted area are not affected by cryolipolysis.

Effects

Cryolipolysis permanently destroys unwanted fat deposits and makes it possible to effectively reshape the treated areas of the body.

The adipocytes will no longer return to the area where cryolipolysis was performed.

The results of Cryolipolysis are not immediate. It takes an average of 2 to 3 months for the complete process of fat cell destruction, which is triggered during the session, to be completed and for the results of fat deposit reduction to be seen.

Cryolipolysis allows for a destruction of 30 to 50% of the targeted adipocytes.

The cells neighboring the treated area are not affected.

Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive and painless aesthetic treatment method. It does not cause any skin damage or noticeable side effects.

It therefore constitutes an effective, non-invasive, and risk-free alternative to liposuction.

Course of the session.

During the consultation prior to the treatment, your Beauty and Curves Paris expert targets the area to be treated and validates the suitability of the Cryolipolysis treatment for your situation and your goals.  

After targeting the area to be treated, your Beauty and Curves expert applies a gel-soaked fabric to protect the skin and allow for good thermal conduction.

We begin by placing a gel-soaked fabric on the area to be treated to protect the skin and allow for good thermal conduction.
Then we place cryolipolysis applicators that will combine the effects of suction and cold.
The cryolipolysis machine is equipped with applicators of different sizes that are adapted depending on the area to be treated (for example, the applicators are larger for wider areas such as the abdomen or smaller for the upper arm).

For a few minutes, the patient may feel a slight discomfort due to the suction and tingling, but the area quickly becomes numb with the effect of the  cold.

The temperature of the device gradually drops to reach -10 degrees Celsius, which leads to the total destruction of the targeted fat cells and an effective action down to the deep layers of the epidermis.

At the end of the session, your Beauty and Curves expert removes the Cryolipolysis applicators and the gel-soaked fabric, and proceeds with a massage of the treated area  (for 5 minutes), to restore and activate blood circulation. This helps increase exchange and elimination at the level of the fat bulges.

The treatment lasts between 45mins and 1 hour depending on the area or areas to be treated, during which you can relax, read, or listen to music.

The Cryolipolysis treatment remains bearable and almost painless.

Fairly rare and temporary side effects may appear following the treatment: redness, a sensation of numbness in the area, altered skin sensitivity that may last a few days, bruising and sensitivity, tingling, itching, possible swelling of the area.

These temporary side effects will quickly disappear within a few days.

Contraindications

Cryolipolysis is not suitable in the following cases

• Pregnancy 
• history of Raynaud's disease (abnormal narrowing of the small arteries in response to cold)
• Poorly controlled diabetes with secondary complications
• Organ dysfunction (severe liver disease, heart and kidney failure, ...)
• poorly controlled anticoagulation
• inflammatory disorders such as post-phlebitis,
• skin disorders such as eczema or umbilical hernias.
• People whose body fat mass is too low (the suction cup must be able to suction the entire bulge).

Some advice to follow:

-Stay well hydrated 8 to 10 glasses per day

-Avoid intensive sports for 48 hours 

-Maintain a good lifestyle, especially in terms of nutrition

-Avoid hammam and sauna sessions 5 days before and after the treatment

-Do not treat areas with stretch marks or recent scars

-Do not treat recent cesarean scars (less than 1 year)

-No laser or IPL aesthetic treatment in the area 15 days before and after the treatment.

-Alcohol consumption is not recommended 24 hours before and after the cryolipolysis session
